If you liked Gaelic Offering, try Falconer

I recently had my university students perform Falconer, and they and the audiences loved this piece. Written in a similar style to Gaelic Offering (also by McMichael), this work shares the melodic lines among all four parts, creating both challenges and interest for all performers. Included in the score are program notes describing the Scottish locales that inspired each movement. This work would be suitable for undergraduate flute quartets or larger ensembles (with parts doubled). It would also work nicely for high school groups in which each player can play with rhythmic independence. I own both the earlier edition and the 2012 edition -- typesetting is now much clearer and readable. This one's a keeper.
